Boston Comedy Festival Finals

96 comedians from across the country are setting their sights on Boston this September as they prepare for the week-long Boston Comedy Festival where they will go head-to-head in front of industry judges for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to launch their careers. This year’s festival takes place September 16th-22, 2012.

How it works
Over the course of one week, 96 comics tell their best jokes in front of industry judges, competing in a preliminary round. Four winners from each prelim then move onto the semi-finals and finally, the best of the best compete in one final round for the title of Grand Prize winner, and $10,000 in cash. The top comedic talents are also seen by the biggest names in the comedy industry, including agents, club bookers, and network television scouts.

Success stories from alumni from the Boston Comedy Festival are varied and numerous. Joe Wong (2003 Finalist, 2003/2005 Contestant) was spotted at the Boston Comedy Festival by a David Letterman Show talent scout, and has since appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and headlined the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. Shane Mauss (2006 Finalist) completed his first TV special, Comedy Central Presents: Shane Mauss, and has also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and Live at Gotham. Look for Ryan Stout (2005 Winner) when his Comedy Central Presents special airs later this year. Ryan has also hosted television specials for MTV and appeared in A Shot at Love: The Hangover, Spring Break, The Bob and Tom Show, and Chelsea Lately. Myq Kaplan (2007-2009 Finalist) went on to be a finalist in the 2010 season of Last Comic Standing, debuted his Comedy Central Presents special in April 2010 and has been seen on Late Night with Craig Ferguson and Late Night with Conan O Brien.
