Lifetime Achievement Award Winner Lenny Clarke
Lenny Clarke was born in Cambridge, Mass., one of eight children. He decided to pursue stand-up comedy one night when he was working as a janitor, putting himself through college at University of Massachusetts in Boston. That night, he went to the Ding-Ho Restaurant in Cambridge and saw some comics performing. Convinced he could do the same thing, he returned the next week and, “The rest, as they say, is history!” he exclaims.

Clarke spent several years as the host of the open-mike nights there and has traveled the world as a stand-up comic. His comedic abilities captured the attention of Rodney Dangerfield, who gave him his first big break, casting him in Nothin’ Goes Right. He and Dangerfield also worked together years later on Meet Wally Sparks.

After years of hard work, Clarke was “discovered” at the Montreal Comedy Festival. He had his own series, the eponymous Lenny, which ran for 18 episodes. Other TV work includes The John Larroquette Show, hosting The Sunday Comics, and appearances on Touched by an Angel and The Love Boat: The Next Wave.

HOSTED BY TONY V
Tony has made appearances on Late Night w/ Conan O’Brien, Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd w/ Colin Quinn and several sit-coms including Seinfeld, Boston Common, The Single Guy and Dr. Katz Professional Therapist. Having proven himself a solid comic actor Tony then tackled dramatic roles on television working with such notable actors as Eric Roberts, Ice T and James McDaniels from NYPD Blue.

Also Featuring Jim McCue Boston Comedy Legend and founder for the Boston Comedy Festival. You’ve seen Jim on Comedy Central and Last Comic Standing.

Paul Oddo

paul-oddo

Paul Oddo (Oh-Dough) has been performing and obsessively creating his original style of comedy for nearly a decade. His voice and perspective are uniquely his own, making him difficult to compare to other comedians. Through his practice & study of Stand up, Improv and Sketch comedy, his stage presence is both methodical and fluid. Each of his shows are different, and have a certain “had to be there” element that makes them especially fun and memorable. Paul lives in NYC and is originally from Houston, TX.

Boston Comedy Festival Finals

96 comedians from across the country are setting their sights on Boston this September as they prepare for the week-long Boston Comedy Festival where they will go head-to-head in front of industry judges for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to launch their careers. This year’s festival takes place September 16th-22, 2012.

How it works
Over the course of one week, 96 comics tell their best jokes in front of industry judges, competing in a preliminary round. Four winners from each prelim then move onto the semi-finals and finally, the best of the best compete in one final round for the title of Grand Prize winner, and $10,000 in cash. The top comedic talents are also seen by the biggest names in the comedy industry, including agents, club bookers, and network television scouts.

Success stories from alumni from the Boston Comedy Festival are varied and numerous. Joe Wong (2003 Finalist, 2003/2005 Contestant) was spotted at the Boston Comedy Festival by a David Letterman Show talent scout, and has since appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and headlined the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner. Shane Mauss (2006 Finalist) completed his first TV special, Comedy Central Presents: Shane Mauss, and has also appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and Live at Gotham. Look for Ryan Stout (2005 Winner) when his Comedy Central Presents special airs later this year. Ryan has also hosted television specials for MTV and appeared in A Shot at Love: The Hangover, Spring Break, The Bob and Tom Show, and Chelsea Lately. Myq Kaplan (2007-2009 Finalist) went on to be a finalist in the 2010 season of Last Comic Standing, debuted his Comedy Central Presents special in April 2010 and has been seen on Late Night with Craig Ferguson and Late Night with Conan O Brien.
