The Boston Comedy Festival is back this year, and if you want in, you're in luck, because we are taking submissions for our contest up until September 1st, and taking late submissions until September 15th. After a hugely successful festival in 2013, with hundreds of great comedians from all over the globe, we're looking forward to another year of exceptional talent. Taking place from November 8th through November 15th, The Boston Comedy Festival showcases a selection of the best in stand up comedy, and we want you to submit! There is a submission fee of $40 ($50 after Sept 1st), so if it were between buying lunch and submitting, we’d buy lunch. We get it, festivals can be pricey. But if you want in, head here and fill out the form upload and your 5-7 min video. Oh and the winner of the contest get’s $10,000 and is under no obligations to share it with the rest of the contestants…

“A NIGHT OF COMEDY FOR JOE YANNETTY” – Join New England’s top comics as they get together to support their friend JOE YANNETTY, who is battling cancer. All proceeds to benefit The Joe Yannetty Fund. A stellar lineup of comedians will perform at the Davis Square Theatre at 255 Elm Street in Davis Square for a fundraiser for their friend and comedian Joey Yannetty who is battling cancer. This will be no ordinary Wednesday -- the laughter will be bouncing off of the theater walls in a resounding show of support for one of the funniest comedians in Boston. Presented by the Boston Comedy Festival. The list of comedians scheduled to perform (which reads like a Who’s Who of Boston Comedy) includes at present: Jim McCue, Tony V, Mike Koutrobis, Joey Carroll, Lenny Clarke, Barry Crimmins, Jack Lynch, Emily Singer, Mike McDonald, and more. The audiences of Boston will benefit from the love and laughs as these extraordinary comedy talents share the bill together. (NOTE: Lineup subject to change -- every day, more comedians are requesting to be a part of this show, and some will travel great distances to be there -- in a literal “show” of support.) Yannetty has been a guest on more than three dozen television shows, including “Evening at the Improv,” “Caroline’s Comedy Hour” and most recently “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.” He has headlined America’s best comedy clubs as well as those in Canada and the Bahamas. Joe has also appeared at the “Circus Maximus Showroom” at “Caesar’s Palace” in Las Vegas, “Radio City Music Hall” in New York City, and the “Kennedy Center” in Washington DC where he performed for First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. Joe’s career began in the early 80’s at the “Ding Ho,” a comedy club and Chinese food restaurant in Cambridge MA. Yannetty has written for and toured with Rosie O’Donnell. He also spent some time as a morning show personality, writer, and producer on WKLB and WZLX RADIO, two of Boston’s top ten rated stations. He was recently featured in a segment on the television show 20/20 about when he was victorious on Star Search over the now famous Drew Carey. SUCKERS, a film he wrote and appears in, is based on a part of Joe’s life. It has been seen on HBO, and Cinemax, can be rented all over the country, and has been sold throughout the world. In October of 2001 Suckers was awarded the Premiere Video Award for Best Screenplay. With his experience as a live performer, an actor and writer, in television, movies, and the stage, it seems Yannetty does it all. With a tremendous amount of prepared material, and an amazing ability to “work the crowd” without degrading the people that are paying to see him perform, whether it’s at the Kennedy Center or the local bar, Yannetty is guaranteed to leave audiences laughing, feeling great and wanting more. 2013 Lifetime Achievement winner Emmanuel Lewis

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Emmanuel Lewis. Emmanuel Lewis is best known for playing the eponymous title character in the 1980s television sitcom Webster.

Comedian of the Year

Marc Maron who will be receiving this year’s Comedian of the Year Award. Marc is best known for his WTF pod cast and his sitcom on IFC Maron as well as showcases on Conan, Comedy Central and Netflix.

He is the star of two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials and is a frequent guest and correspondent on The Late Show with David Letterman. Andy recurred on Everybody Loves Raymond, Comedy Central’s The Root of All Evil and Fox’s Bob’s Burgers, and he has appeared on the HBO Young Comedians Special, Late Night with Conan O’Brian, The Daily Show, Dr. Katz Professional Therapist, Home Movies and The Larry Sanders Show. Andy delivers the State of the Industry Address each year at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.
